Baptism

Sacrament of Baptism: Our Baptism Team is made up of those working from the Parish Office (Registration, Documentation, & the Celebration of the Baptism) and those involved in the preparation for the baptism of their child (Greenhills Parish Baptism Team).  We are here to make the celebration a positive experience.

  • We ask Families with a child for Baptism to give a month’s notice to the secretary of the Parish. Baptisms take place on the third Sunday of the month following the 11am Mass.  The family of the child to be baptised is invited to attend the 11am Mass, where the child is then introduced, presented to the local faith community.  A priest of the parish will visit the home in the week leading up to the baptism.

  • All children baptized during the year are invited back to a Mass and refreshments on the feast of the Baptism of the Lord, in January.

  • Due to a lack of volunteers in our own parish, we have sought the support of our sister parish (Holy Spirit, Greenhills) in the preparation of families for the Sacrament of Baptism.  We will continue to look for volunteers from our own parish.

  • Adult Baptism: If you are a baptised Christian (of any Christian denomination) or not baptised at all as a Catholic, you can prepare for the Profession of Faith or Baptism here in the Parish of Kimmage Manor Parish using the Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) programme.

Confirmation

As our parish does not have any Primary School, we do not have Confirmation Days like other Parishes/Primary Schools.  If for some reason you were not Confirmed and you wish to be, as a young person or adult, contact us and we will set up a preparation programme to suit your situation.

Sacrament of the Eucharist

Holy Communion (Eucharist) is primarily distributed when Mass is celebrated in the parish church.  Holy Communion is also distributed to the Housebound and the Sick during the first week of each month (except August).  Mass (Eucharist) is celebrated from Monday – Friday @ 10am, on Saturday (Vigil Mass) @ 6pm, and on Sunday @ 11am.

Preparation for First Holy Communion

As our parish does not have any Primary School, we do not have First Communion Days like other Parishes/Primary Schools.  But any child living in our parish can register for First Holy Communion Preparation in our parish, and then a day for the same sacrament will be organised.  This preparation will include both the candidate for First Holy Communion, and that child’s parents.  The preparation will include First Penance.

If you are a baptised adult, but not baptised in the Catholic Church but wish to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church, then you can apply to do preparation to do so.

Arrange a Funeral

Funerals in Kimmage Manor are generally for those living in the parish of Kimmage Manor, but also for those that have historical or emotional ties with our parish.

  • If your loved one dies, the first thing you should do is phone the Undertaker of your preference.  The Undertakers are very professional, and will facilitate the organisation of the Funeral Mass and Burial of your loved one.

  • Parish Funerals normally take place at 10am Monday to Saturday; there is no possibility of Funeral Masses taking place on Sunday.

  • For the Funeral Mass our Funeral Team will facilitate the smooth running of all that needs to be undertaken.
