Book Club
Kimmage Manor Book club was formed in 2023. Reading selection can embrace all literary genres: fiction, biography, travel, history according to the members’ choice. Discussion is open and friendly and can lead from the book’s theme and characters to its social or historical setting and often to comparison with life today.
Club members are library members and books are reserved by Terenure library and borrowed there. Many are also available on audio books. The club meets in the Parish Office Meeting Room on the first Thursday of each month at 7pm. Notice usually appears in the Parish weekly bulletin.
New members always very welcome.

Church Cleaning
Just like any home, our parish needs good housekeeping. For this very purpose, the parish has a group of volunteers who keep the church clean and tidy - God’s housekeepers! The group meets every second Friday after the 10am Parish Mass to clean the church. The cleaning is followed by a cup of tea and a chat. New members are always welcome.

Community Building Team (CBT)
In our Community Building Team we have a twofold mission:
1. To be of practical help and support to existing community/social events and activities held by the parish community.
2. To act as a ‘think tank’ to find new community/social ventures which reach those in our parish who are not served by existing functions or feel alienated in any way.
We are always open and eager to hear new ideas, and everyone is welcome to come and join us at our monthly meetings, which are noted in the weekly bulletins.
Recent examples of the fruit of this committee are:
AED/CPR – Defibrillator;
Book Club;
Cuppa after Mass on the 1st Saturday & Sunday of the month;

Environmental Group
The Environmental group currently comprises about 10-12 people who have come together in the Parish on a monthly basis to promote individual behaviours that can, when all added together, help address issues such as Climate Change, ongoing challenges to Pollinators, and to promote Biodiversity. We continue to have a lot of support from the clergy in our parish, who are represented in the Group, and we communicate primarily through the church newsletter and the noticeboard at the bottom of the church. The Mission of our group is guided by the Church document ‘Laudato Si’. We continue to promote positive behaviours supporting Biodiversity, both on the Church grounds - like the wildflower patch, birdboxes, and nature-friendly mowing cycles - and in our own homes, gardens, and behaviours. We are always looking for volunteers to help out with this important work.

Faith Development Series
Each Wednesday we invite a variety of speakers to address themes that are relevant to the different months of the year. These encounters take place in the Parish Hall (Kimmage Manor Parish Church) from 7.30pm-8.45pm. This is an opportunity for the parishes of our Partnership and others to come together to practice and share a language that is sometimes not heard, the very voice of God within. You will be more than welcome to attend these talks; refreshments will be served.

Le Chéile
The Le Chéile (Together) group wants to bring the whole issue of our parish’s welcome to and inclusiveness of our own LGBTQ+ parishioners and their families out into the light. We want to make the church a place where they can feel safe, be heard and respected, without being judged. Because it is an area that has not been openly talked about in parishes up till now, (to the best of our knowledge,) we do not have a template as to how our group should proceed. We are in uncharted water. We meet and talk openly about our experiences and hopes for the future, and we pray that, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can discern the way forward. Our group is looking for new members and welcomes even greater diversity to join us on our journey
We have called our group “Le Chéile” as we wish to walk along with the LBGTQ+ community.

Maintenance Committee
The Parish Maintenance Team considers proposals for repairs and maintenance of Parish buildings and facilities. They employ suppliers approved by the Spiritan Congregation to perform tasks, e.g. heat maintenance, roof/leak repairs, etc. These tasks are approved and carried out on a priority basis due to the availability of limited funding. The members of the team perform from time-to-time different tasks, e.g. painting, cleaning/power washing pathways surrounding the church.

Music Ministry
“It is good to praise the Lord, and make music to your name, O Most High,
Proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night” (Psalm 92 1 -2)
We have an active Music Ministry in Kimmage Manor where we aim to spread the Word of God and enhance the beauty of liturgical celebrations with music. We currently provide music for the Sunday, 11.00am Mass and for some of our weekday, 10.00am Celebrations.
Visiting musicians and singers also contribute independantly during weekday morning liturgies on a regular basis.
We hope to build and develop our group, so that we can also provide music for the Saturday, 6.00pm Mass. We welcome all who wish to join our group, young/ old, singer/ instrumentalist, all genders. We practice on Wednesday mornings at 10.30pm in the Church, and at 10.30am each Sunday before 11.00am Mass. There is no audition process and no long-term commitment is asked for. All that’s needed is a love of making music!

Pastoral Council (PPC)
The present Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) was formed in 2023 and is undertaking its collaborative work guided by our (Mission Statement). In January each year we have a Parish Assembly, and the Feedback from that gathering gives the PPC its mandate for the year.
The members are Julie O’ Neill (Secretary), Fr. John Mahon CSSp, Patrick ‘Pat’ Cahill, Deirdre Behan, Stephen Croke, & Fr. Joe Poole CSSp (Temporary Chairperson)
Our PPC meets monthly alongside meetings with our Parish Partnership group which includes St. Pius X, Templeogue; St. Jude’s, Willington; Holy Spirit, Greenhills; & St. Joseph’s, Terenure parishes. The council can be contacted through the Parish Office or Fr. John.
There is a Suggestion Box in the church, the PPC respond to and are grateful for all that is suggested.
Rosary
Rosary (May & October)
During the months of May & October the Church Worldwide honours the Mother of God.
In our parish church we recite the Rosary before morning Mass (10am) from Monday – Friday especially in May & October. A member of the Liturgy Team usually prepares a place on the altar where the image of Mary is placed during these two months. At the end of these months we usually have a procession to honour Mary, a procession that is creative and meaningful for those who attend.

Sacristan(s)
The role of the church sacristan is to prepare the church for prayer and worship. Their role enables all to celebrate the Eucharist and all other liturgies in a dignified and prayerful manner. They bring practicality and order to their preparations. In this way, whichever celebration is to take place, whether it is daily Mass or weekly Baptisms or weddings, the prayer and liturgy of the celebration flows smoothly.
Much of the work of the sacristan is behind the scenes, often unseen or unnoticed. It is the sacristan who makes sure that all is ready, all is prepared, all is where it needs to be, before the prayer or liturgy begins.
The ministry of the sacristan is marked by reverence, as they prepare the church for liturgy and prayer. They also create a sense of welcome and hospitality, and maintain a sense of respect and solemnity.
During weekday Mass and weekends, the Principal Sacristan (Peter Butler) is helped by another five (5) sacristans.

Safeguarding
'Safeguarding' means the action the Church takes to promote a safer culture in all our churches. In order to achieve this we do a lot of hard work. We promote the welfare of children, young people and adults. We will work to prevent abuse from occurring.
All vulnerable people have a right to be protected against abuse and to have any concerns regarding abusive experiences addressed. They have a right to be treated with respect and to feel safe, regardless of the setting.
The Parish Safeguarding Officers are the key link between the diocese and the parish/s, concerning safeguarding matters. She/he will have an overview of all church activities involving children, young people and vulnerable adults and will seek to ensure the implementation of the safeguarding policy.
Safeguarding means protecting a citizen’s health, wellbeing and human rights; enabling them to live free from hard, abuse and neglect. It is an integral part of providing high-quality health care. Safeguarding children, young people and adults is a collective responsibility.
From time to time updating on the different policies in relation to Safeguarding in our Parish takes place at a diocesan level.

ST. Vincent de Paul ( St. Martin's Conference)
St. Vincent De Paul is an international charitable organisation founded in 1833 and is now based in over 150 countries. They first came to Ireland in 1844, 180 years ago, and are now firmly established throughout the 32 counties. There are in excess of 10,000 members in Ireland, based in local groups called conferences.
The conference based in Kimmage Manor Church is St. Martin’s Conference, and consists of seven members from diverse backgrounds, but united in helping those who have fallen on hard times. The Conference actively supports those in our own area facing poverty and disadvantage.
Every two weeks, the Conference meets to review the requests received for assistance, decide on a course of action and support, and call the people concerned in teams of two. Usually, assistance is provided by way of Dunne Stores vouchers, and more recently Payzone Energy Vouchers. If appropriate, more specialist assistance from MABS (Monetary Advice and Budgeting and Service) and/or Citizen Information Centre is recommended, depending on the circumstances.
Education is very important as a means to exit poverty. Assistance can be given at both conference level and regional level for 3th level education and apprenticeships. The help given in this area is wide-ranging, and is designed to assist an individual in furthering their education.
Once a month, and usually in the middle of the month, there is a collection outside Kimmage Manor Church for St. Vincent De Paul. The amount collected each month goes directly to St. Martin’s Conference, and is used to help those in need in our own area. Even the major national collection in early December each year goes directly to St. Martin’s Conference, to go toward the substantial help given each Christmas to families and individuals in our area.
If any help or assistance is required, contact should be made to the Head Office, phone no. 01 884 8200, or the website SVP.IE
New members are always welcome. If interested, please contact the Head Office
Christmas Carol Service &
Christmas Cards
Over the last two years a generous parishioner has sponsored the Parish Christmas Card, the same Christmas Card has been artfully produced by two young parishioners. This Christmas Card is sent out to the Housebound and Sick of our Parish, and indeed sent out to a number of other people who appreciate this contact with Kimmage Manor Parish.

Visitation to the
Housebound & Sick
A team of five parishioners visit the housebound in their homes on a monthly basis (except August), in nursing homes, or in hospital. Each person who is visited has the opportunity to receive Communion or the Sacrament of Confession. The team recognises that such visits enrich the life of our parish.
If you know of anybody who would benefit from such a visit, please contact the parish office @ 01-4064377 (office hours) or email: kimmagemanorparish@gmail.com

Welcome & Hospitality Team
As you enter the church at Mass times you will be immediately met by a group of people who will welcome you, and will communicate clearly what is happening on a particular Saturday evening or Sunday morning. Distribution of the Newsletter and Hymn Book are some of what you will receive from them.
If you wish to be part of this ministry, please contact Bríd Flavin @ kimmagemanorparish@gmail.com
